Boy, have I been busy.
We recently moved from Port Arthur, Texas (also known as the mosquito capital of Texas and hurricane heaven!) to the lovely Hill Country of Texas. We actually live about an hour from Austin. What a change! No humidity to speak of and just a beautiful area.
Anyway, I haven’t been posting on anything because I’ve been trying to get the house set up, finish up husband Steve’s shop and my studio. In my mind, my studio should have come first, but it seems like a good idea to be able to find the coffee and extra TP so the house came first. Then, since Steve is the chief bread winner in the “fam”, his shop came next.
I say “we saved the best for last” because I’ve been working on my studio. It is a metal building with an inside finished out like a bedroom and bath; I guess a guest house arrangement. I took the front part enclosed room for my pottery area with my wheel and shelving, my jewelry kiln and supplies and then the inside bedroom area is my painting studio. The bath room is huge and I have several units of shelving in there for pottery supplies, glazes, etc and the shower has 800 pounds of clay residing there!
I’m posting some pics of the painting area where I work on my new love, mixed media and whimsical lettering (thanks Joanne Sharpe for you expertise and wonderful book)! It’s still very much a work in progress and I need to paint it and give it more personality.
